The Olympic Games are the most well-known of the various sports festivals of the ancient and modern world. They have set a precedent that is followed by many lesser known--and virtually unknown--international games intended to engage specific portions of the population. This work is an encyclopedia of 175 international games that follow a format similar to that of the modern Olympics. It begins coverage with the year 1896, the year the very first modern Olympics were held, and ends with the year 2000.
